A Violin by Domenico Fantin

Violin by Domenico Fantin, Varese, 1975

The violin follows a Guarneri model pattern, with its flatter arching and the open fs - similar to the Heifetz model. In our view, the scroll is the violin's high point, a very well done, precise job, especially in the volute with a deep carving in the contour and elegant shape - characteristics of a more personal style. Full description

The top spruce was exceptionally well-chosen with very regular grains and comes from Val di Fiemme, which is the same source of most of the greatest Cremonese makers of the past. The bottom features a quarter cut one-piece maple back with narrow flames. It has a beautiful golden brown varnish color. This violin is a great choice to complement your music.
