The wood used for the back is of regular flamed maple. The top is spruce with a fine grain from the Paneveggio forest. The instrument is varnished with an even red and brown tone oil varnish, cooked following historical recipes.
"This violin is based on a Sgarabotto model and I was lucky to get the original measurements while Andrea Zanrè was writing the book of Sgarabotto.
We quickly learned that we had a really good base on our hands! Ever since we made it several times and tweaked the model quite a bit.
I named the violin ‘Rusalka’ - after the opera of my favorite composer Antonin Dvorak." Agnete Vibe
Meet the maker
Iotti & Vibe
Born in Copenhagen in 1994 Agnete’s parents shared their love of music with her from an early age and the violin quickly became the object of her affection. Her passion for craftsmanship meant that at 19 years old, she moved to Italy to enroll at the Scrollavezza Violini Making School of Parma. Pietro, a Parma native, studied classical guitar at the conservatory, and his inquisitive mind, always keen on figuring out how things work let him experiment with guitar making. Quickly the world of lutherie unfolded and so he also entered the Parma School of Violin Making. Learn more
