A Violin by Pierre Flavetta
Cremona Violin by Pierre Flavetta, Cremona, 2021
An antiqued cremona violin modeled after Andrea Guarneri, crafted by the hands of a rising-star maker. It shows Pierre’s great knowledge of the old master’s techniques. Although the instrument is only inspired by the original, it still shows Guarneri’s character. For us, the golden varnish, full of texture and patina, is its high point. More

Full description
"This cremona violin follows the characteristics of Andrea Guarneri - he trained as a violin maker in the workshop of Nicolò Amati. After spending four years with the most illustrious violin makers active in Cremona at that time, such as Francesco Ruggeri e Gian Battista Rogeri, he decided to open his own workshop and create more personal instruments, moving away from his master’s style. In his shapes, we can already find some stylistic features that will be taken up by his famous nephew, Guarneri “del Gesù”. When I create a copy, I enjoy studying the author thoroughly and getting to know his techniques, his masters, his apprentices, as much as possible. It was Andrea Guarneri who started to change the stylistic code in his own workshop after his experience in the thriving environment of Nicolò Amati. I like to wonder about Andrea’s dreams and plans when he started his own business and what was going on in his mind when he reached his personal style, being able to stand out from all the others."
